The Sun will be a permanent fixture in Blaenau Ffestiniog from now on thanks to The Snowdonia Solar System Trail, which was launched at the Oakley Arms Hotel, Maentwrog on Thursday 29th of November.

Departure and arrival: Hotel Ritterhof – Steinegg and Max Valier Astronomical Observatory in Gummer
An atypical and unique walk which reveals not only Valberg’s natural heritage, but also grandiose
planet-like monolithic land arts, allowing to make educational, contemplative or relaxation stops on the way.
The trail can be walked in either direction; the ‘Sun’ being situated on the east summit of Balgay Hill, and Pluto is represented by the Mills Observatory itself.
The trail is about 3.7 km long, and follows the unfinished foot- and bike path right up to Hadsel Church. Several of the planet stations are located close to the church, and near the priest residence, which is close by.
